Isaac Ellis, a three-star combo guard in the 2027 class, has committed to Louisville, he told Rivals.

The 6-foot-1 junior originally committed to South Carolina in June before reopening his recruitment last month and reclassifying from 2026 into 2027. He’s the younger brother of South Carolina freshman Eli Ellis, who is averaging 10.2 points per game for the Gamecocks this season.

Like his older brother, Isaac brings plenty of scoring punch. He’s putting up 30.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 46.8% from the floor and 34.5% from three. Ellis plays for Moravian Prep (NC), competing under the YNG Dreamerz name in the Overtime Elite league.

Ellis on his commitment to Louisville

Isaac Ellis took an unofficial visit to Louisville on Saturday and left committed to the program. He discussed his decision to choose the ‘Cards with Rivals.

“I love the culture and the entire staff… everybody preaches on family and culture but you can kind of sniff out when they are faking it. On my visit I could tell everything they preach on they follow, it was a super great culture a lot of energy and a really high standard.”

Pat Kelsey played a large role in Ellis’ commitment.

“It wasn’t your normal college basketball locker room or practice, everything is super detailed and they do things at a really high level on all aspects. I love coach Pat, he is an everyday competitive guy and he pumps his guys with energy all the time. He is who he is and he’s okay with that and that’s someone I wanted to play for.”

Louisville’s culture played a major role in his decision, and in the end, it was simply an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.

“It’s a super successful culture in every aspect of what they do. That’s what I wanted to be a part of… I’m thankful coach gave me this opportunity and I’m so excited to be a part of the family.”

More on Ellis

According to the Rivals Industry Rankings, Ellis is ranked No. 189 nationally in the 2027 class. He also checks in as the No. 5 combo guard and the No. 9 overall prospect in North Carolina.

Before his initial pledge to South Carolina, Ellis picked up offers from Oklahoma State, Murray State, App State, Indiana State, Radford, Eastern Kentucky, Queens, and High Point.

Off the floor, Ellis has built a massive social media presence, with more than one million followers on TikTok and over 400,000 on Instagram.

Ellis is Louisville’s second commitment in the 2027 class, joining local three-star power forward Ferlandes Wright.
