2027 QB Jerry Meyer III commits to TCU

Waxahachie (Texas) three-star quarterback Jerry Meyer III has committed to TCU, he announced on Sunday.
He chose the Horned Frogs over the likes of Baylor, SMU and Houston.
Meyer III is the No. 563 overall prospect and No. 47 QB in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He also checks in as the No. 32 QB and No. 60 junior in Texas, per Rivals.
The 6-foot, 170-pounder began to see his top in-state contenders emerge quick, and like many of the other signal-callers in the junior class, Meyer has reached his college decision much quicker than anticipated. TCU began to trend earlier this month in the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. Head coach Sonny Dykes and Co. already have their man in the class of 2027.
Meyer transferred to Waxahachie as as sophomore and threw for 2,911 yards and 27 passing touchdowns last fall. He made the move to the Lone Star State from Las Vegas. As a freshman for Lake Mead Christian Academy, he won a state title and broke the single-season passing TD record with 58.
Waxahachie began its 2025 season with a 44-13 win over Ennis on Friday night. Meyer threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. The Indians rank as the No. 20 team in Texas, per the Massey Ratings.
Meyer is the first commitment for TCU in the 2027 cycle. The Horned Frogs currently have the nation’s No. 34 class in 2026, per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

TCU getting potential ‘face of the program’ in Meyer
Waxahachie recruiting coordinator Darius Terrell spoke with Rivals about what TCU will eventually get in Meyer, both on and off the field:
“Jerry Meyer III has been here for about 18 months now and it’s safe to say that he’s the best QB to come through here since Lamont Moore won a state championship way back in 1993 and signed with Baylor,” Terrell said.
“From day one he took ownership as the “guy” and has been a tireless worker. We’ve seen growth from him both physically (up 23 pounds, grew inch and a half) and as a vocal leader over the same time frame. He’s coachable, disciplined, and is a hyper-competitive individual both on and off of the field. He’s got that “it” factor that we all so desperately look for at that position.
…He’ll leave Waxahachie HS with every passing record to his name, but his best ball undoubtedly lies ahead of him. TCU is getting a guy that we believe could eventually be the face of their program once he earns his way onto the field.”
