4-star athlete Neeo Avery narrows list to six schools
Glen Burnie (Md.) Good Counsel four-star athlete Neeo Avery is down to six schools in his recruitment, he announced Wednesday afternoon.
Avery is the No. 223 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 9 athlete and the No. 5 player in Maryland.
Among his top six are: Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Ole Miss and Oregon.
After committing to the Penn State in December, Avery decided to back off that pledge in late March following a surge in interest from other schools. Avery told On3’s Chad Simmons at the time of his decommitment that Ole Miss and Kentucky were two school showing a lot of interest in him.

“This was a really tough decision,” Avery said. “Me and my mom, we really sat down and thought about it, talked about it, for a long time. It wasn’t easy because Penn State has treated me like family, even stuck with me through my injury. I really appreciated that.”
Since then, Neeo Avery has made unofficial visits to both Oregon and Ole Miss, along with an official visit to Maryland. He is scheduled to see Kentucky this weekend.
