4-star athlete Paris Melvin commits to Houston

Houston (Texas) Cy Springs four-star athlete Paris Melvin has committed to Houston, he announced Thursday morning.
Melvin chose the Cougars over finalists Ole Miss and Baylor, along with more than 15 other reported offers.
The 6-foot, 170-pounder is the No. 253 overall prospect and No. 13 athlete in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 34 player in Texas.
Melvin ran the ball 147 times for 1,091 yards and 18 touchdowns while also hauling in 350 receiving yards as a junior in 2024. On defense, Melvin had 13 tackles, an interception and four pass deflections, per MaxPreps.

According to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, Melvin’s commitment pushes UH up to the No. 54 class nationally and No. 9 group in the Big 12.
