4-star DL Keshawn Stancil names top five schools

Clayton (N.C.) four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil has amassed more than 25 offers, but is now ready to focus on a smaller group in his recruitment.
On Wednesday, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he is down to five schools: Miami, NC State, Penn State, Georgia and Clemson. Stancil has already taken one of his official visits with the Bulldogs last weekend, and is locked in with the Hurricanes, Nittany Lions and Wolf Pack for visits next month.
He also visited each of his new top five this spring, solidifying them as the major contenders in his recruitment.
Those visits have been key for him to narrow his list down and figure out which school he is serious about — and vice versa. The home-state Wolf Pack have sold him hard on the idea of staying close to home and starring for them.
“It’s 30 minutes up the road. I can get there whenever I want to,” he told the WolfPacker.com last month. “It’s pretty much like I’m a player, but I’m not a player, at certain points.”
Miami, Georgia among those pursing Stancil heavily
The others on the list are in hot pursuit, though. Miami in particular has made him feel like a major priority. Defensive tackles coach Damione Lewis was in to see Stancil earlier this month after he visited for the team’s spring game in April.
“Just the coaching, the culture, there’s a lot of experience on that coaching staff,” Stancil told CaneSport of what stands out to him. “And just to be able to get coached, to be able to say you’re being recruited by a Hall of Famer (in defensive line coach Jason Taylor), and coach Lewis has been in the game for a long time. That’s good to me.”

Few programs have had more success with defensive lineman than Georgia in recent years, and the level of attention to detail he’s experienced in Athens is on a different level.
“I mean, just hearing questions I’ve never heard from coaches,” Stancil told DawgsHQ of what made his most recent visit so impactful. “I went in the meeting room with the whole team, and it was like, ‘I know you’re a good player, my staff knows you’re a good player, but my players don’t know you’re a good player’. He put my film up in front of everybody. They were critiquing me and telling me what I could do better telling me what I did great, and telling me what I did, what I need to work on. I like constructive criticism, so if you can tell me that, we’ve got a good relationship off the bat.”
The 6-foot-3, 260-pounder is the No. 143 overall prospect and No. 15 DL in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3, however, is higher on him than the other three services. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 74 prospect and No. 9 defensive lineman.
