4-star EDGE DeAnthony Lafayette decommits from LSU Tigers

Orlando (Fla.) Lake Nona four-star EDGE DeAnthony Lafayette has decommitted from LSU, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder took an official visit to Miami early in the summer, and also made stops at Boston College, LSU and Oklahoma before ultimately committing to the Tigers in July. But with the upheaval in LSU’s program after firing Brian Kelly and a red-hot Miami team continuing to pursue him, he had a decision to make.
He is now back on the market as one of the top uncommitted prospects in the country just a few weeks before National Signing Day. Miami has received multiple expert predictions recently to flip Lafayette, including one from Rivals national recruiting reporter Adam Gorney on Sunday.
Lafayette is the No. 367 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 41 EDGE and No. 52 recruit in Florida.
Across 11 games as a junior last fall, he tallied 73 total tackles, 6 TFLs and 17.5 sacks for Lake Nona, to go along with two forced fumbles and an interception.

Tigers now down to just 16 commitments
Lafayette’s decommitment is the first since Kelly was fired, but the fifth overall for the Tigers this cycle. Earlier this season, five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys flipped his pledge to Tennessee, and four-star offensive tackle Emanuel Tucker moved his commitment from the Tigers to Mississippi State.
With the latest defection, LSU now holds just 16 commits in what was already supposed to be a smaller class.
Other teams continue to pursue some of their top pledges as well. Texas and a host of others are looking to flip elite EDGE Trenton Henderson, along with four-star offensive tackle Brysten Martinez. The latter already visited the Longhorns and has an official visit scheduled to Austin later this month.
Michigan is targeting Havon Finney, LSU’s four-star cornerback commit, though the Tigers look to be in a position to hold on if they retain defensive backs coach Corey Raymond.
