Colin Rice, a four-star small forward in the 2026 class, has committed to Nebraska, he told Rivals.

The 6-foot-8 rising senior out of Waukee Northwest (IA) chose the Cornhuskers over Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern, and others.

Rice is the No. 101 overall recruit in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 33 small forward prospect and the No. 2 ranked player in Iowa.

Rice on his commitment to Nebraska

Colin Rice went in-depth on his commitment to Nebraska with Rivals.

“I chose Nebraska because of the coaches first off. They have believed in me from day one and have been with me every step of the way in the recruiting process and it is close to home and the fan support is awesome in Lincoln. I also think they will use me the best to my abilities.”

What led to his trust in the coaching staff?

“My trust started with being an Iowa kid and having Coach Hoiberg and Coach Loenser being from Iowa and having a lot of connections to me. I know I can trust them because they are good people.”

In his own words, what type of player is Nebraska getting in Rice?

“I like to say I’m a do it all type of guy. Being able to guard all positions and handle the ball and shoot the ball at my size will help me succeed at the next level.”

He has a message for Nebraska fans.

“My message to the fans would be everyone has shown me so much love from this program and along with the fans. I’m committed to trying to be the best player I can be and give it all to this program until I don’t have any years left or I have a chance to play at the next level. This place is going in the right direction and I’m committed to leaving it in a better place than it already is now.”

Rice named MVP at UAA Next

Earlier this month, Colin Rice was awarded MVP of Session 3 on the Under Armour Next Circuit, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw:

This was an in intriguing showing for Colin Rice. The 6-foot-7 wing was coming off a very productive showing at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and carrying a little bit of momentum into the UAA Next Session 3.

Rice did not disappoint with his Martin Bros. team. He showed a diverse scoring package, able to comfortably self-create in the half court, touch the paint, knock down shots from behind the arc, or absorb contact to get to the line. Each time I watched Rice, he was producing scoring opportunities for his team. He has a smooth offensive game and played with a lot of confidence. He has nice length and fluid athleticism. While Rice will need to continue adding strength and paying attention to his defensive outputs, he showed to be a consistent scorer.
