4-star TE Colt Lumpris commits to 'dream school' Alabama
The Lawrenceville School (Conn.) four-star 2027 tight end Colt Lumpris tells Rivals he has committed to Alabama.
The 6-foot-7, 235-pound Lumpris also has offers from the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Florida and Tennessee.
“It fit all the boxes I’ve been looking for,” Lumpris said. “They’ve always been my dream school since I was little.”
Crimson Tide assistant coach Bryan Ellis was the lead recruiter for Lumpris who adds to an Alabama class Rivals previously ranked No. 10 in the country early in the cycle.
Lumpris visited Tuscaloosa back in March and says he’s thought about committing to Alabama ever since.
“I know as soon as I got there it was right for me,” Lumpris said. “I was looking for a family feeling in a school. Also have to have good academics because I go to a highly-academic school right now. The football has to be good but that’s known everywhere.”
Lumpris told Kalen DeBoer on Tuesday night he was in and quickly went public with his plans. He believes DeBoer and Ellis can get the best out of him.

“I’ve watched both of them for a long time and the stuff they believe in for their tight ends and how they use their tight ends is the way I could see myself in college.”
Lumpris adds to an Alabama class that includes edge rusher Jabarrius Garror, quarterback Trent Seaborn and defensive back Nash Johnson. The Rivals Industry ranks him as the nation’s No. 16 tight end and No. 238 prospect overall.
“I think he’s just got so much versatility,” Lawrenceville head coach Napoleon Sykes said “A lot of people like him as a tight end but he has that ability to be a big receiver. He can do all the things and he’s going to continue to grow and get bigger and stronger. He has a receiver skill set with a tight end body. He’s got the ability to play inline, he’s got the ability to be an H, ability to be a guy you can throw in the slot. He can do a little of everything and he has such a large catch radius and ability to make plays after the catch. He’s a great athlete.
“Great kid, hardworking, great family (older brother plays at Air Force, younger brother started at cornerback as a freshman). It’s neat all these good things are happening for him.”
Alabama is off to a hot start in this class. Other’s they’re in strong position for include five-stars like cornerback John Meredith, offensive tackle Mark Matthews, offensive linemen in Kennedy Brown and Maxwell Hiller, receiver Monshun Sales and quarterback Elijah Haven.
