4-star WR Gordon Sellars locks in commitment date

After racking up myriad Power Four offers, Charlotte Providence Day four-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars has narrowed his list of top schools down to six.

He told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday that Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, South Carolina and in-state FCS program North Carolina A&T are his top schools. Additionally, Sellars has also locked in an April 18 commitment date.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder is the No. 211 overall prospect and No. 34 WR in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 13 player in North Carolina.

According to the On300, Sellars is the nation’s No. 186 prospect and No. 24 WR.

Sellars has set official visits to Clemson (May 30), South Carolina (June 6), Georgia (June 13) and Michigan (June 20), though he’s now set to come off the board before those dates arrive. It remains to be seen if the blue-chipper will keep his process open after committing, but he does know what he’s looking for in his home at the next level.

“I am looking for a great football team, but also great academics because football has to end one day, so I want to be put in a situation where I can focus on both,” Sellars told On3’s Chad Simmons in December. “Other important factors to me are the area and the people on campus because I want to be at a place where I can feel like myself.” 

As a junior for Providence Day, one of the top high school football programs in North Carolina, Sellars caught 50 passes for 975 yards and 10 touchdowns. Across three seasons for the Chargers, Sellars has over 1,500 receiving yards, per MaxPreps.

Sellars is coming off a visit to Clemson earlier this month. The Tigers are one of the hottest teams on the recruiting trail right now and are looking to add to a class that ranks No. 7 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Notably, Sellars also has a visit to Michigan set for April 11, one week before his commitment date. The Wolverines have recruited Providence Day well in the past and will look to add the rising pass-catcher to the fold.

“I feel like they’ve checked all the boxes right now,” Sellars told The Wolverine’s Ethan McDowell earlier this month. “I just want to learn more about the school and just learn more about the program.”
