5-star PG Ikenna Alozie down to 8 schools

Ikenna Alozie, a five-star point guard in the 2026 class, is down to eight schools. Moving forward, the 6-foot-2 rising senior out of Dream City Christian (AZ) will consider Alabama, Arizona, Gonzaga, Houston, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, and Washington.
Alozie is the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect, No. 2 point guard, and No. 1 recruit in Arizona in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Originally from Nigeria, Alozie has completed an official visit to Washington and multiple unofficial visits to Arizona.
Prior to cutting his list down, he also held offers from Kansas State, Rutgers, LSU, Michigan, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Creighton, Georgetown, Arizona State, Seton Hall, St. John’s, UCLA, Providence, Oregon, and others.
Alozie talks programs involved
In a previous interview with On3, Ikenna Alozie discussed several of the schools recruiting him.
Gonzaga: “I still don’t know much yet because they started recruiting me late. So it’s a new program and new recruitment process for me.”
Kentucky: “Honestly, their environment. The arena is crazy. They’re known for their fanbase. The way their guards have impacted the game, I feel like I could fit well in that type of situation.”
Kansas: “I want to take my time and watch the. Obviously they have DP (Darryn Peterson) coming in this year. I want to see how they play with him and how he adapts to their system of basketball and look from there.”

Louisville: “They had an incredible season this past year. I’m trying to watch them and see how they play. Obviosuly I would be going in to start at the point guard, so I’m just watch their program and how they manage their guards and players. That’s what stands out to me.”
Houston: “Their defense. Every time they see me, they say ‘you gotta be able to guard the ball. If you can’t, you probably won’t step on the court.'”
Arizona: “I’ve been there many times. It’s pretty much where I stay, super close. It’s really family-based. They’ve been on me for a very, very long time and I appreciate that.”
Washington: “Their program is great. They’ve had alumni come out of that program. I’m looking forward to seeing how they’re using (Zoom) Diallo.”
What he’s looking for in a school
In that same previous interview with On3, Alozie discussed what he wants in his future college.
“I’ve been away from home for a long time. Honestly, somewhere that’s going to take me in and make me family. That’s the first thing I’m looking for. Somewhere where I am going to feel like home again.”
Scouting Report
On3’s Jamie Shaw had this to say about Alozie’s game:
Alozie is an explosive lead guard. He does not dance around with the ball, making a move and getting downhill quickly in a direct line to the front of the rim. Alozie is a quick-twitch defender, guarding the ball full court and his shooting looks like it continues to improve from three.
Alozie is so explosive. He lives in the paint, putting constant pressure on the opposing team. His ability to collapse a defense at the point of attack, puts his Utah Prospects team is a lot of advantageous situations. He has quick hands on defense and plays with a competitive edge. The next step in his evolution is working through his passing reads (limiting turnovers), and the jump shot. His explosive burst, especially on the ball, is unique among his peers.
