5-star QB Ryder Lyons locks in Oregon official visit

Folsom (Calif.) five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons will take an official visit to Oregon this weekend, with the Ducks considered the strong favorite right now to land him.
Lyons was considered at one time to be a strong USC lean, but with the Trojans flipping former Ducks four-star commit Jonas Williams, Oregon turned up the heat in a big way this spring on the talented passer.
He canceled his official visit with USC earlier this month, and has yet to take an OV with any other program. The Ducks have been involved in his recruitment for well over a year, and have now prioritized him as QB No. 1 in this class.
“Coach Stein, Coach Lanning, how they’re doing as a program, they’re just building and building,” Lyons told On3’s Steve Wiltfong this spring. “Me and Coach Stein have a great relationship, probably the best out of any other coaches. They’ve been recruiting me the hardest probably, the whole time … how they’re recruiting, a lot of people like to say it’s all Phil Knight money, but they don’t really understand how good they recruit … their culture is probably one of the best I’ve seen. How they play as a team, how they interact with each other.”

Lyons is one of the country’s most prolific passers
Ole Miss, BYU, Ohio State, and Michigan are also in the mix with Lyons, who will take a one-year mission trip after high school and enroll as part of the 2027 class.
According to Wiltfong, the Cougars will get their shot at Lyons the weekend of June 20.
Over the last two seasons Lyons has thrown for 6,589 yards and 84 touchdowns to just 14 interceptions. He has rushed for another 1,538 yards and 38 more scores. The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of the four major recruiting services, tabs Lyons as the nation’s No. 5 quarterback and No. 17 prospect overall. He is the No. 3-ranked prospect in California.
