Flowood (Miss.) Hartfield Academy’s Bralan Womack, one of the top defensive backs in the country, has announced his commitment to Auburn. The five-star safety chose the Tigers over Ohio State, Florida, and Texas A&M after taking official visits to each program.

The 6-foot-0.5, 200-pound Womack, ranked No. 21 in the Rivals Industry Rankings, held more than three dozen scholarship offers. While Ohio State was once considered his dream school, Auburn’s relentless pursuit ultimately sealed the deal.

“It was very tough—I thought about it and prayed about it a lot,” Womack told Rivals. “In the end, I followed my heart. Auburn valued me as a person. They made me and my family feel welcome, and it feels like home every time I’m there. My sister plays softball at Auburn, so I know the campus well. It feels like family.”

Relationships with Auburn’s staff were a major factor in the decision.

“Coach [Hugh] Freeze always recruited me hard, and Coach [TJ] Rushing and Coach [DJ] Durkin were always reaching out,” Womack said. “They got to know me and my family and made me feel like a priority. That was very important.”

Defensive backs coach TJ Rushing played a big role as well.

“My relationship with Coach Rushing is different. I know his whole family,” Womack said. “He makes it easy to talk, and he’s great at checking in on me and my family. He never went over the top, but he made me comfortable from the beginning.”

Womack loves the fit on the Plains as an Auburn Tiger

Womack also believes Auburn is the right football fit.

“I love Coach Durkin’s defense. He puts guys in position to make plays,” he said. “He’s shown me how he wants to use me, and I trust that he’ll put me in the right spot to be successful. I see a chance to go in, learn the defense, and help the team.”

Looking forward, Womack sees big things ahead for the Tigers.

“Auburn was in a lot of close games last year, but they’ve been adding big players. Coach Freeze is doing a great job, and I think Auburn is going to win a lot of games with him as the coach.”

Womack was Auburn’s No. 1 safety target this cycle, and his commitment adds another cornerstone to Auburn’s 2026 class and represents a major recruiting win for Freeze and his staff against some of the nation’s top programs.
