Four-star point guard Amir Jenkins has committed to West Virginia and will reclassify to 2025, he told Rivals. The 6-foot-2 prospect will forgo his senior year of high school at Worcester Academy (MA) and join the Mountaineers for the upcoming season.

Jenkins chooses to play for new coach Ross Hodge over offers from schools like Wake Forest, Arizona State, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Xavier, and several others.

He is ranked as the No. 99 overall recruit in the 2026 class, according to On3. He’s also the No. 14 shooting guard and the No. 2 player in Massachusetts. His ranking will now be re-evaluated with his move into 2025.

Jenkins on his commitment to WVU

Amir Jenkins discusses his decision to choose West Virginia.

“I chose West Virginia because it felt like home. I like Coach Ross. Great person and think I’m ready to play in college, and so does he, and lastly to get better.”

In his own words, what type of player is WVU getting in Jenkins?

“I would describe myself as a pure point guard who can score, and I’m a winner.”

Jenkins a standout at NBPA Top-100 Camp

On3’s Jamie Shaw found Jenkins to be one of the top performers at the NBPA Top-100 Camp earlier this summer:

“Amir Jenkins has a crafty handle and was able to consistently put pressure on the defense, getting to his spots in the half court. He has good lengthy and is a good enough athlete. He will need to continue adding weight, which will help him finish more consistently around the basket. Developing his jumper will also expand his game more. However, his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and keep a live dribble is very intriguing.”
