Auburn offers Michigan State 4-star WR commit Tyren Wortham

Auburn football recruiting is in a rut, and while many around The Plains are waiting for Aug. 1 to roll around, the Tigers need to hit the gas and add some pieces to a class that currently ranks just No. 66 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
On Monday, Auburn receivers coach Marcus Davis and Co. extended an offer to Sarasota (Fla.) Booker four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham. Less than a month ago, Wortham committed to Michigan State, flipping away from UCF.
Auburn is now without a receiver in its 2026 class after Boynton Beach (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star WR Denairius Gray flipped to Kentucky. Gray was among the multiple blue-chippers to leave the Tigers’ class this summer. Douglas County (Ga.) four-star WR Devin Carter flipped back to Florida State last month, too.
Just nine commits are in head coach Hugh Freeze’s class to date. Just three of those prospects in the mix are four-stars: Huntsville (Ala.) Jemison EDGE Hezekiah Harris, Nazareth (Pa.) athlete Peyton Falzone and Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Cardinal Newman linebacker Adam Balogoun-Ali.
The Tigers do remain in the hunt for some of their top targets coming out of official visit season. With not many top-100 recruits still left on the board, though, Freeze and Co. will need to get out the spatula this fall.

Wortham has been identified as his stock continues to rise ahead of his senior campaign in the Sunshine State. On Monday, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 112 overall prospect and No. 15 WR in the Rivals300.
He originally committed to UCF in April, but has held an offer from the Spartans since last November. He’s continued to stack big Power Four offers this year, but opted to flip to MSU after taking an official visit to East Lansing on the weekend of June 20. Georgia and Kansas State also got Wortham to campus for an OV this summer.
Playing for an impressive Florida program at the high school level, Wortham is coming off an impressive junior campaign. He caught 67 passes in 2024 and turned those into more than 1,300 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, per MaxPreps. Booker won 10 games last season.
Wortham currently sits at the top of Michigan State’s 2026 class. He’s one of three four-stars in the mix for the Spartans, alongside East Kentwood (Mich.) four-star quarterback Kayd Coffman and Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field four-star offensive tackle Collin Campbell. MSU checks in at No. 34 in the team rankings, as of July 15.
