Colorado beats Florida State and Ole Miss for 4-star LB Rodney Colton

Newnan (Ga.) linebacker Rodney Colton burst onto the scene early as a top recruit. Over 30 schools offered the four-star and he has committed to Colorado over Florida State and Ole Miss.
Earlier in the week, the Rebels had the buzz, but Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes never gave up.
“Even when I was thinking about Ole Miss, Colorado was still right there,” Colton told Rivals. “I kept talking to the coaches and I kept thinking about my decision and I decided Colorado was the best school for me.”
What separated coach Prime’s program from the Seminoles and the Rebels?
“I have just been talking with coach Hart more and more. I have gotten to know him and he is a great man who has been coaching with coach Prime for years. He is a father-figure to me, he has a lot of experience and that connection really helped Colorado. He made a big impact on me and my mom.
“The whole staff made an impact on my commitment. They have over 200 years of experience in the NFL. The staff is about development and they know what it takes, so I am ready to go there and help them change things.”

Colton feels at home at Colorado
Colton is a big addition to Colorado’s class. The Buffaloes love to recruit the Peach State. Two of their 2025 signees out of Georgia helped land the new commit.
“Mantrez Walker and Julian Lewis have told me a lot of great things about Colorado,” Colton said. “They love it there and they talked to me about Boulder, the staff and how they all want to stay on the grind.
“I am ready to go to work there and show Colorado can produce players for the NFL. Me and coach Hart have talked about playing early, we have gone over plays and I am ready to go help changed things in Boulder.”
The community fits Colton and he is excited about his future in it.
“Boulder to Denver reminds me of Newnan to Atlanta,” Colton said. “Colorado, because of the people, has that home vibe for me. It feels like home.”
