Marianna (Fla.) Blountstown four-star running back Amari Thomas is now back on the board following a decommitment from Florida State last week. He’s now added an offer from Colorado.

The 5-foot-10, 178-pounder announced on Tuesday evening via X that the Buffaloes have offered, throwing their hat in the ring of a recruitment that won’t be re-opened for long. Upon telling Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett that he was no longer pledged to FSU, he also said that he’ll commit once again on Aug. 9.

“You never know who will be in contact with you after,” Thomas told Fawcett, noting that he’s keeping his options open down the stretch.

Perhaps an offer from CU, or other potential offers that could come in the next few days, could lead Thomas to pushing his next decision back into the fall. The Buffaloes have prioritized Florida on the recruiting trail since Deion Sanders took over in Boulder.

There is already another team trending for the burner, according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. South Carolina had Thomas in for an official visit on the weekend of May 30, and after he decommitted from Florida State, the Gamecocks picked up multiple predictions to add him to the fold in Columbia.

Thomas is the No. 185 overall prospect and No. 18 RB in the 2026 Rivals300. He ranks No. 437 overall in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies.

As a junior for Blountstown, Thomas tallied nearly 1,900 yards and found the end zone 34 times. He has 56 touchdowns across his last two seasons and will be one of the top burners in the Sunshine State this fall.

More on Colorado’s 2026 class

To date, the Buffaloes have just nine commits in their 2026 class that ranks No. 68 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Sanders and Co. are yet to sign a full high school class and this cycle is looking like more of the same.

Brandon (Miss.) four-star cornerback Preston Ashley headlines as the No. 235 overall prospect and No. 23 CB in the cycle. He pledged last month.

July has brought the Buffs five commitments. Newnan (Ga.) four-star linebacker Rodney Colton is a top-300 recruit and top-20 LB in the cycle.

“The whole staff made an impact on my commitment,” Colton told Rivals’ Chad Simmons about his decision. “They have over 200 years of experience in the NFL. The staff is about development and they know what it takes, so I am ready to go there and help them change things.”

Carthage (Texas) three-star LB Carson Crawford, Orlando Jones three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne, Seffner (Fla.) Armwood three-star safety D’Montae Tims and Sammamish (Wash.) Eastlake three-star LB Colby Johnson have also joined the fold this month.
