Los Alamitos (Calif.) four-star tight end <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/davon-mitchell-154217/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Davon Mitchell</a> told On3 last month that he believed he was closing in on a commitment decision soon. 



But before that, he wants a chance to see a couple of his top contenders again in the month of June. Mitchell will visit Alabama (June 9), Oklahoma (June 15-17), and Miami (June 21-23) later this month. 



Each of those three programs were among his top five that he named in late April. All five programs have hosted him for one of more unofficial visits, but he’ll see the Crimson Tide, Sooners and Hurricanes as he moves toward an eventual decision. 



“I see myself committing pretty soon,” <a href="https://www.on3.com/news/davon-mitchell-plans-to-commit-soon-after-announcing-top-five-schools-2025-4-star-te/">Mitchell told On3 last month</a>. “I don’t really have a date or a time yet, but I see myself making an early decision. It will be based on relationships and player development.



… There is an order to these schools, but each school still has a shot,” said Mitchell, the No. 1 tight end in the <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/rankings/player/football/2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2025 On300</a>. “I like the relationships I have built with the coaches. Each school features the tight end in the offense and they all stand out to me.”

Alabama: “Alabama is where I am from and they are a great program. I have visited a couple of times. I have a strong relationship with coach <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/coach/joe-cox-132105/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Joe Cox</a> and I have always been a fan. I was at the Iron Bowl and they do great things. They develop tight ends really well and teach them to block and catch well.”



Miami: “Miami wasn’t even on my list when I had a top 11. I went there for a visit and that changed things for me. They have produced some great tight ends and I liked their practice a lot. They see the tight end a lot, they use multiple tight ends on the field at the same time and I feel they would get me the ball.”



Oklahoma: “Oklahoma is a school I am familiar with. I have been there four or five times, so I feel comfortable. The atmosphere is strong. I like the coaching staff and they always feature their top tight ends. Coach <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/coach/brent-venables-131982/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brent Venables</a> and coach <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/coach/joe-jon-finley-62590/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Joe Jon Finley</a> have really recruited me hard, so I have some strong relationships too.”



Texas: “I have visited Texas a few times and they use their tight ends well in coach <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/coach/steve-sarkisian-132832/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Steve Sarkisian</a>‘s offense. They have a lot of great players, they run a strong offense and I am good with coach <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/coach/jeff-banks-134920/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jeff Banks</a>. Texas has a lot of good things going right now.”



Texas A&M: “Texas A&M is a school I have visited once, but I like what I saw. I lived around there for a while, they have great facilities and the coaches have shown a lot of interest in me. They used <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/donovan-green-38179/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Donovan Green</a> a lot last year and they have shown they like to get the ball to their tight end. Coach <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/coach/jimbo-fisher-133642/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jimbo Fisher</a> is very involved with the offense and they are looking to build on that this season.”
