Elite EDGE Jamarion Carlton cancels Texas A&M official visit

Temple (Texas) four-star EDGE Jamarion Carlton will no longer take an official visit to Texas A&M this weekend, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
The star 6-foot-4.5, 230-pounder is coming off an official visit to Texas and the Longhorns are the team with momentum for his pledge, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. In addition to Texas and A&M, Carlton is also considering Texas Tech, Baylor and LSU.
Carlton has locked in a July 10 commitment date. The Aggies were thought to be a top contender alongside the Longhorns for the blue-chipper, but he’ll no longer head to College Station. A June 20 official visit to Baylor was also previously scheduled, though it remains to be seen if he’ll log that trip to Waco.
“Entering the weekend, there was more buzz around Baylor, LSU and Texas A&M, but coming out of it, Texas is trending and the clear team to beat for Jamarion Carlton,” On3’s Chad Simmons wrote earlier this week.
Carlton is the No. 43 overall prospect and No. 8 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 4 player in Texas.
When previously speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons, Carlton laid out what will play a role in his eventual college decision next month:
“Outside of the relationships, playing early will be a factor in my commitment,” Carlton said. “That feeling on campus is important for me too. Feeling comfortable and making sure everything fits me is what I am looking for on the visits and when I make my decision.”

Texas trending for multiple top in-state prospects
Carlton is one of many Lone Star State recruits that’s currently trending to Texas in the On3 RPM. Seven of the top 10 prospects in the state this cycle remain uncommitted — the Longhorns have the RPM edge for five of those prospects.
Five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, four-star interior offensive lineman John Turntine, four-star running back KJ Edwards, four-star athlete Jalen Lott and Carlton are all trending toward Austin, as of June 11.
Texas has eight in-state commits in its 2026 class to date. Willis four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr. headlines as the No. 75 overall prospect. He committed on May 14.
Other in-state commits include: four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart, four-star offensive tackle Max Wright, three-star IOL Nicolas Robertson, three-star WR Kohen Brown, three-star safety Yaheim RIley, punter Mikey Bukauskas and long snapper Trott O’Neal.
