Five-star safety from Bishop Gorman (NV), Jett Washington, stays true to his commitment to Oregon and signed with the Ducks on Wednesday. The second-ranked 2026 safety in the country chose Oregon over Alabama, Ohio State, Miami, and USC. Head coach Dan Lanning‘s defensive mindset is what appeals to Washington.

“Oregon has what I am looking for,” Washington told On3. “My relationships with the coaches are strong; Coach Lanning is a defensive-minded head coach, I love the whole environment, and Oregon sets their guys up for life after football. Just the fit at Oregon is right for me.”

The six-foot-four, 200-pound defensive back committed to the Ducks in June after his official visit to Eugene. The rangy safety visited Alabama and USC before he visited Oregon. Washington took multiple visits before his OV.

“Each visit went well. They got better each time, and I started to feel good about Oregon. Me and coach Hampton developed a strong relationship. I love his energy. Coach Lupoi has a great plan for me as a high safety, too. Then that feeling I had on my official visit was big.

Miami did try to make a late push for Washington, but was unable to get Washington on campus for an official visit.

Oregon has five five-stars expected to sign for its 2026 class. Offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho, tight end Kendre Harrison, wide receiver Jalen Lott, and edge Anthony Jones.

“Coach Lanning is a great coach, and Oregon is a top program,” Washington said. “I love the fit, and I know Oregon will develop me and set me up.”
