Florida RB Jaylon Glover ready to 'lock things in' before the season

The commitment date is coming for Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson running back Jaylon Glover. By the end of the week, the 5-foot-7, 195 pound running back will be committed to Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, South Carolina or Utah by the time he goes to bed August 6.

He is excited about what’s on the horizon.

“I have taken a lot of visits and I feel I am pretty much ready to get it done,” said Glover. “I had a lot of great options, but I have have taken my time and with the season starting soon, I want to lock things in.”

Glover took official visits to each of his finalists outside of Florida in June. The Gators did not offer until the middle of June and Glover spent time at the Swamp last weekend.

He has seen all he’s going to see before the decision and he is all but set.

“I have a good idea of the school I am going to commit to. That feeling is there and I have a good thought about it. Hey I will continue to think about it and make sure that feeling is legit, but I am pretty sure.”

Consistency was important

The relationships have been established. Even with Florida offering later than the others, the Gators still have recruited him for some time. That is key for him because the consistency played a role.

“One of the biggest things for me was how the schools recruited me,” said Glover. “That was important when I got down to five schools and it is important in my commitment.

“I am looking at the offensive scheme, the fit and academics are very important too, but the school showing me I am important has meant a lot.”

The fit

Glover said the school that gets his commitment Friday is the “full package” in his mind. It is a combination that has him leaning heavily towards this school.

“The vibe, who is winning, the running backs production, how schools recruited me and of course the academics are most important to me,” said Glover. “That is what my school has to offer.”
