Four-star DB Chauncey Kennon signs with Florida State
The top prospect of the 2026 class for Florida State, Chauncey Kennon, put ink to paper on Wednesday. The fluid corner from Sarasota Booker (Fla.) chose the Seminoles over Miami, Florida, Georgia, and LSU.
FSU has long been a dream school for Kennon as his family grew up liking the Noles. His sister currently attends the school.
“It’s a dream school. I always wanted to be at Florida State,” Kennon said. “As y’all know, my sister goes to Florida State, my family grew up liking Florida State, so it’s just always been a dream school.”
Miami made a strong push for Kennon, hosting him for an official visit, but the Seminoles eventually won out with a commitment in June.
The six-foot-one, 175-pound four-star cornerback is ranked 51st nationally and can be a plug-and-play piece for the defensive backs coach Pat Surtain and the Seminoles.

Kennon, the sixth-ranked corner in the 2026 class, is part of an elite haul of defensive backs that includes four-stars Efrem White and Darryl Bell, and three-stars Jordan Crutchfield and Daylen Green.
Scouting Report
Fluid corner with size, movement skills, and coordination. Measured at 6-foot-1.5, 185 pounds with 32-inch arms, and big hands before his senior season. Has good speed in the track and combine setting, running an 11.08 mark in the 100 meters as a junior, while also qualifying for the state finals in the 200 meters (21.85). Lines up at corner and receiver for his high school team. A loose mover, especially at his size.
Shows the ability to trigger and make plays on the ball. Plays with quality instincts. Got his hands on a bunch of passes as a junior, with 16 pass breakups. Also shows the playmaking ability on offense, scoring six touchdowns. Will need to continue cleaning up his technique in coverage. May not overwhelm in one area, but is a well-rounded prospect.
