Four-star LB Amarri Irvin commits to the Irish: "Notre Dame is a place I want to put myself"
IMG Academy linebacker Amarri Irvin announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Wednesday.
The Rivals Industry four-star chose the Irish over an offer list that also included Miami, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
“I feel like Notre Dame is a place I want to put myself and people I want to surround myself with that will bring out the best in me.
The 5-foot-11, 215-pound Irvin becomes commit No. 7 for head coach Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame, adding to a class Rivals previously ranked No. 7 in the country.
“The tradition and everyone they’ve brought out not football wise but school wise. They have a lot of powerful people in the world, CEOs, great workers, business owners, athletes, great football players, that was something I really liked too.”
The people more than anything made Irvin feel comfortable.
“The coaches and the team I feel like that team and those coaches feel like family from the recruiting staff to Coach Freeman,” Irvin said. “It feels like a genuine relationship. Also the team being there, visiting there, knowing players and seeing that brotherhood and bond between them that’s something I want to be part of.”

Irvin visited South Bend for ND’s victory over NC State and raved about the experience.
“Seeing everyone rally for Notre Dame and seeing the stands fill up,” Irvin told Blue and Gold’s Mike Singer when asked about the highlights of the game day experience. “Before the game, I took a picture in my head of what the stadium looked like before the fans got there and then when it filled up. It was crazy; it was like a movie. It felt old school and I liked that vibe. The player walk was something I’ve never experienced before.”
Freeman and future position coach Max Bullough led the charge in recruiting Irvin to Notre Dame.
“I love talking with Coach [Marcus] Freeman — as a coach and man. Everything he says is really powerful. You can always learn something from what he says, and it’ll be beneficial for your life.
“Talking with Coach Bullough —it was great to catch up with him. I met his wife and kids. We talked about the future of Notre Dame and how the team is doing now.”
The Rivals Industry ranks Irvin as the nation’s No. 12 linebacker and No. 213 prospect overall.
