Bivens, a native of Washington D.C., also holds offers from Georgetown, Maryland, VCU, Stanford, Creighton, Arizona State, Providence, Vanderbilt, BYU, Illinois, West Virginia, Iowa, Oklahoma State, Memphis, and others.
In a previous interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Bivens broke down his game.
“I’m a true point guard,” he said. “Pass first, I look for my teammates and then I look for my own. I try and model my game after Chris Paul. This season I’ve improved my body, and I can see the difference in my game. Also, playing for Coach (Joe) Wootten, he’s pushing me and I’m being coached. I’ve never played for a coach who coaches me like him before.”
Bivens a standout at Beach Ball Classic
Darius Bivens was a standout at the Beach Ball Classic in December, according to Shaw:
Darius Bivins ran the show, as his Arlington (VA) Bishop O’Connell team took home the High School Division championship. Bivins plays with a good pace and a lot of confidence on the ball. He moved it in the half court and he pushed the tempo in the open court. Bivins has a slight frame, but he moves well, getting to his spots and making appropriate plays. While he is not explosive at the point of attack, he has good footwork and excellent pace. Bivens earned MVP honors of his division after scoring 18 points on 6-12 shooting and adding 6 rebounds and two steals.
