Aziz Olajuwon, a four-star prospect and the son of NBA Hall-of-Famer Hakeem Olajuwon, has committed to Stanford, he told Rivals.

The 6-foot-6 small forward out of IMG Academy (FL) chose the Cardinal over a top group of schools of Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, and Houston. He also received notable offers from Virginia, Xavier, TCU, Virginia Tech, and others.

Olajuwon, who is originally from the Houston area, is ranked as the No. 62 overall player in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 23 ranked small forward.

Olajuwon on his commitment to Stanford

Aziz Olajuwon went in-depth on his commitment to Stanford.

“I chose Stanford because it’s a perfect balance of elite academics and high-level basketball. It’s a place that will challenge me on the court and in the classroom, while also preparing me for life beyond basketball. The culture and tradition at Stanford really stood out to me.”

What led to his trust in the coaching staff?

“From the very beginning, the coaches were genuine with me. They didn’t just talk about basketball, they cared about me as a person. Their vision for my development and the way they plan to use me in their system made me feel confident that this is the best place for me to grow.”

In his own words, what type of player is Stanford getting in Olajuwon?

“I’d say my game is a mix of versatility, competitiveness, and IQ. I can shoot the ball, score, create for others, and impact the game on both ends of the floor. I have fun playing defense and rebounding, I take pride in doing whatever my team needs, whether that’s leading, defending, or making the right play.”

He has a message for Stanford fans.

“Get ready, we’re building something special. I can’t wait to put on the Stanford jersey, compete at the highest level, and give everything I have for the program and the fans. The future is bright, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
