Gage Mayfield, a four-star small forward in the 2026 class, has narrowed his list of schools down to five. Moving forward, the 6-foot-7 rising senior of Hale County (AL) will consider Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.

Mayfield, a native of Moundville, Alabama, is ranked as the No. 73 overall player in the class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 26 ranked small forward and the No. 1 player in Alabama.

Mayfield has scheduled four official visits and breaks down each of his finalists here.

Prior to cutting his list down, he also received offers from Auburn, Virginia Tech, LSU, Alabama, Maryland, Miami, and others.

More on Mayfield

Rivals’ Jamie Shaw evaluated Mayfield earlier this month and had this to say about him:

It was the first game of the first day, and Gage Mayfield had an intriguing matchup against Chris Washington. It was a matchup that the college coaches started to trickle in for, as the game wore on you saw the coaches section get more and more filled.

The piece of Mayfield’s game that sticks out regularly is his defensive presence. At a length 6-foot-8, he has intriguing instincts to go along with athletic pop. He slides his feet, gets in the passing lanes, and is an effective weak side shot blocker as he rotates down a lineup. His offensive game showed promise in the matchup against Washington. Mayfield knocked down a three and attacked the basket off ball reversals in a straight line. He needs to continue to refine the offensive game, but he is consistently finding production on the floor.
