Georgia offers Michigan State 4-star WR commit Samson Gash

Detroit Catholic Central four-star wide receiver Samson Gash is one of the few unsigned blue-chippers left in the 2026 cycle.

The 6-foot pass-catcher has been committed to Michigan State since June 24, but he decided not to sign earlier this month as the Spartans had a change at head coach and elsewhere on the staff. The in-state program still holds his commitment, but other programs are in the mix, too.

Another notable offer came through for Gash on Friday. He took to social media to announce an offer from James Coley and the Georgia Bulldogs:

With UGA in the mix, it could throw another wrinkle in the recruitment of Gash, which has taken multiple turns this fall. Before the coaching change in East Lansing, Michigan State was already trying to fend off Alabama.

The Crimson Tide were in pursuit of Gash this fall and a flip looked to be probable, but the SEC program took its foot off the gas. After the firing of Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith, Gash began to draw interest from West Virginia.

At the end of the National Signing Period last week, it looked the Mountaineers were in the driver’s seat. Earlier this week, though, Penn State and new head coach Matt Campbell jumped in with an offer. Gash’s father, Sam Gash, played for the Nittany Lions.

“This offer means a lot to me. It’s been a long time coming,” Gash told BWI. “I’ve been up there a few times and I know the program is in great hands with this new Iowa State staff that I like and trust a lot after they were recruiting me a little bit at Iowa State.”

Georgia will now look to make its presence felt for Gash, who won’t put pen to paper until February. The Bulldogs lost four-star WR Brady Marchese during the signing period as he flipped to Michigan. They did still sign a pair of four-star wideouts last week in Craig Dandridge and Ryan Mosley.

Michigan State, now led by Pat Fitzgerald, still signed 19 prospects last week. It would love to keep Gash in the mix, too, but it won’t be easy.

“It feels really good knowing MSU is in good hands and is a safe option for me and great hire,” Gash told Rivals’ Greg Smith about the Fitzgerald hire.

Gash is the No. 292 overall prospect and No. 46 WR in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 6 recruit in Michigan.
