4-star linebacker Liona Lefau names top 8 schools

Kahuku (Hawai’i) linebacker Liona Lefau is down to eight schools, he announced Friday on Twitter.
Lefau is the No. 286 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 25 linebacker and the No. 2 junior prospect in the Aloha State.
Included in his top list are: BYU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, USC, and Washington.
As it stands today, the Trojans are the current leader for Lefau’s commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). USC holds a 33.7 percent chance of securing his pledge, while Oregon, BYU, Utah, Texas, and Washington are tied in second at 11.7 percent.
Liona Lefau has connections to the USC program
He previously lived in California and told WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader that he is a longtime Trojans fans.
“It’s the closest Power 5 school, so I always liked USC,” said Lefau. ”I’m a big fan of Su’a Cravens, I like how he plays and they move him around anywhere. I like how he plays and I try to mimic my game after him. I also like how there’s always Polyneisans on the team, they have the Hawaii pipeline. Spent two football seasons in California, at Winner Circle and JSerra, so I know what it is like to live in California. I like it up there.”

He visited the Trojans in January and also made his way back there earlier this month after a 7v7 event in Los Angeles.
Lefau also told WeAreSC that he wants to get his official visits done this spring and summer because he’s hoping to avoid doing any traveling during his senior season. And if he’s ultimately an early enrollee signing in December, there will be little time after the season to get that done.
