Houston bolsters 2026 class with local DL Isaiah Broughton

Houston continues to add the finishing touches to an outstanding 2026 class.
The latest addition comes from a local standout.
Coach Willie Fritz offered touted DL Isaiah Broughton in person at Houston (Texas) Cy Ridge High in September.
Two months later, the massive interior DL locked in his commitment to the Cougars.
“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to play at Houston,” Broughton told Rivals. “I don’t have to go anywhere and my people can come see me very easily, so I love it.”
“Houston has a lot to show,” he added. “It’s a good fit for me. I’m staying home!”
Broughton is the little brother of New Orleans Saints DL Vernon Broughton, who played for Texas.
Isaiah is even bigger than his older brother at 6-foot-4 and tipping the scales at more than 315 pounds, and has been terrific stuffing the run and providing an interior pass rush over the span of his senior season.

Broughton’s strong senior season follows great outings at the All-American Bowl Combine in San Antonio, the UA Next camp in Houston and the Rivals Camp Series stop in Dallas.
Over the last two months, the 3-star DL backed off an early declaration for UNLV and has been weighing opportunities at Florida, Miami and Houston. The Cougars have remained a steady force down the stretch and have checked off a ton of boxes for the local target.
