Inside FSU legacy Devin Carter's flip back to the Seminoles

Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County wide receiver Devin Carter is going home. He is going back home.
On April 20, 2023, the four-star committed to Florida State. He decommitted about nine months later. Auburn landed a commitment from the Florida State legacy in January, but after visiting Tallahassee three times this year, he has put his name back on Florida State’s commitment list.
“This is it for me,” Carter told On3. “When I visited for the first time this spring, it felt different. Then I went back a week later. And my official visit this summer put the stamp on it. I knew.”
What made the biggest difference?
“The main reason is new offensive staff. Coach Harris and coach Malzahn are great coaches and very detailed. They are changing the offense and they have a plan to make me a productive receiver and put in a position to be a guy very early for them. My goal is to be a freshman All-American and I believe they can get me there.”

Mike Norvell was always a positive in Carter’s eyes. His connection with the head coach is strong and he is excited about playing for him in the ACC.
“I feel way more confident in the staff. Coach Norvell is great, but they have a new receivers coach, coach Malzahn is a proven guy and their main objective is to be explosive offensively and do big things.
“I am excited about what they want to do with me and how they want to use me. This decision has been building up and I am excited to get back to Florida State.”
