4-star QB Jadyn Davis reportedly sets commitment date

Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis is announcing his top five schools on March 24. He will be revealing a college destination not too long after that.

According to Langston Wertz Jr. of the Charlotte Observer, Davis is committing on March 31. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan has a commanding lead for his commitment at 90.3%.

The 6-foot-0.5, 190-pound signal-caller most recently visited the Wolverines on March 18. EJ Holland of The Wolverine believes head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff are in a good position to land one of the top quarterbacks this cycle.

“There is plenty of optimism around Ann Arbor that Michigan was able to do enough with Davis on his weekend unofficial visit,” Holland wrote on March 19. “This trip allowed Davis the opportunity to spend quality time with new quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell, which was a big reason for the visit…Obviously, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was involved this weekend as well. I’ve always said it would be up to Harbaugh to close, and again, the feeling is Michigan has done enough.

… Davis has been considered a Michigan lean since last summer when I first put in a prediction to land him. While the five-star prospect has balked on a decision on multiple occasions, it feels like this recruitment is coming to an end and there is plenty of optimism coming out of Ann Arbor. I still like my pick for the Wolverines.”

Davis is one of the top quarterbacks in the country

Other schools involved in Davis’ recruitment include Clemson, North Carolina and Tennessee. He spoke with On3’s Jeremy Johnson on Jan. 7 about what factors will influence his decision.

“You got coaches leaving, they’re getting promoted and things of that sort,” Davis said. “Different schools, coaches going (to) higher levels, things of that sort. Quarterback depth chart, you got the transfer portal, all types of things. You just gotta be smart when making this decision cause I’m not a guy that wants to, personally, hit the transfer portal if something goes wrong.

“I want to be developed in the offense… and I’m a man of word. My dad told me to be a man of my word. So once I commit to a school, it’s gonna take something crazy to get me to decommit.”

Last season, Davis led Providence Day School to a 12-1 record and passed for 3,425 yards and 43 touchdowns in 2022. He made 221 of his 305 attempts for a completing percentage of 72.5%.

Davis is the No. 26 overall prospect and No. 4 quarterback in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in North Carolina.
