4-star OT Josiah Thompson sets commitment date

Dillon (S.C.) four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson is one of the top linemen in the 2024 cycle. He is now ready to make his decision.

Thompson told On3 that he will be committing on April 14 at 9am ET in the Dillon auditorium. The 6-foot-6.5, 275-pound recruit announced a top six in January, but recently shared that Alabama, Clemson and South Carolina are leading for his pledge. Georgia and Miami have been involved as well.

“What separates them is I’ve really been speaking to the coaches since my freshman year,” Thompson previously told On3. “It’s really my relationship with the coaches, being more comfortable around them in the facility. That’s what really separates them from the others.”

Thompson is the No. 51 overall prospect and No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in South Carolina.

On3 rates Thompson higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 19 overall prospect, No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 1 player in South Carolina.

Thompson visited South Carolina on March 14 for spring practice.

Regarding the Crimson Tide, Gamecocks and Tigers, Thompson shared that they contact him multiple times a week over call and text. He added that each program tells him what it can offer and how he can benefit the school.

“I was really thinking somewhere around the spring: March, April, May,” Thompson previously said about his decision timeline. “So that was a plan, to commit. But coaches have been calling, wanting to talk about OVs for the summer. If that happens, I would have to push the commitment back. There’s likely not a chance for me to push my commitment back, but things can happen.”
