Miami analyst DeMarcus Van Dyke is On3 national recruiter of the month for October
On3 spotlights each month a college football assistant producing standout work on the recruiting trail. Our national recruiter of the month for October: Miami defensive analyst DeMarcus Van Dyke.
Van Dyke was the lead recruiter for the Hurricanes on five-star cornerback Cormani McClain of Lakeland (Fla.) High, who stunningly picked Miami on October 27 after being widely expected to choose Florida.
McClain, the top-ranked cornerback and No. 2 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus Rankings, is the top-rated defensive recruit for Miami since linebacker D.J. Williams in 2000.
Van Dyke, a former Miami and NFL cornerback, was retained by Mario Cristobal as a defensive analyst after serving as the Hurricanes’ cornerbacks coach under Manny Diaz the past two seasons.

Van Dyke originally joined Miami’s staff in 2018 as an analyst under Mark Richt.
Aided by the pickup of McClain, the Hurricanes’ class ranks No. 8 nationally and No. 1 in the ACC in the On3 Consensus Team Rankings.
For the first time since 2005, Miami has two top-10 recruits in the same class; five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, who plays for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., is the other. It’s also the first time since 2008 that Miami has had at least five top-70 recruits in a class. Along with Mauigoa and McClain, the other top-70 recruits are EDGE rusher Jayden Wayne from IMG Academy; quarterback Jaden Rashada of Pittsburg (Calif.) High, near San Francisco; and linebacker Malik Bryant from Orlando Jones.
