Reaction continues to come in from Miami’s season-opening win against Notre Dame on Sunday night.

Head coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes staff had elite prospects on campus from the 2026, 2027 and 2028 classes.

No player on campus is higher on the board and more coveted in the football facility halls than Rivals No. 1 ranked sophomore cornerback A’Mir Sears.

Out of West Broward, Sears has spent a lot of time around Coral Gables early in his process and had a great experience watching Miami get a big win over the weekend to kick off the season.

“They played great offense was playing explosive and the defense was flying around,” Sears said. “Everyone playing with that Miami swag and having fun while doing it.

“The direction of the program looks like it’s going in the right direction. Looks like they can be in the College Football Playoffs and be a National Championship contender.

“It would be real exciting to play for Coach Mario. Watching him build the program to what it is today is amazing.”

Miami is going to battle the likes of Georgia, Nebraska and many others to keep Sears home.

“Just the culture at Miami,” Sears added of what stands out. “And the coaching staff and the recruiting staff.”

Rivals ranks Sears as the nation’s No. 4 recruit regardless of position.
