Saline (Mich.) three-star quarterback Tommy Carr has flipped his commitment from Miami (OH) to Michigan.

The younger brother of Notre Dame QB CJ Carr and grandson of former U-M head coach Lloyd Carr, Tommy was pledged to the Redhawks since Feb. 21. But with National Signing Day looming, the Wolverines jumped in the mix and have now added a second signal-caller to their 2026 class.

Carr is the No. 972 overall prospect and No. 57 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 18 recruit in Michigan.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder led one of the top high school football teams in Michigan this fall. Saline went 10-2, falling in the quarterfinals of the state tournament to top-ranked Cass Tech. The Hornets averaged over 45 points per game this fall.

Carr also becomes the second Miami (OH) commit to flip to Michigan, following Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola Academy three-star offensive tackle Tommy Fraumann, who flipped on Nov. 7. He joins Newbury Park (Calif.) four-star QB Brady Smigiel on the pledge list. Smigiel is a top-250 prospect and a top-20 QB this cycle.

Michigan has the No. 11 class nationally, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Carr becomes commit No. 26 in total with National Signing Day around two weeks out. The U-M pledge list is headlined by five-star running back Savion Hiter and five-star EDGE Carter Meadows, both of whom are top-10 overall recruits in the Rivals300.
