Jackson (Ala.) four-star wide receiver Keeyun Chapman has committed to North Carolina, he announced on Friday.

Formerly committed to UCF, Chapman chose head coach Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels over Florida State.

“I want to play for the best coach in all of football,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Coach Belichick was a big part of my commitment, but I also like the overall program and how all of the coaches have recruited me and gotten to know me.”

Chapman is the No. 186 overall prospect and No. 26 WR in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 player in Alabama.

The blue-chip pass-catcher was among a wave of January offers sent out by Belichick and the new-look UNC staff. Chapman took a spring visit to Chapel Hill in March and then returned for an official visit on the weekend of May 30.

While Florida State pushed, Chapman is now the highest-ranked member of North Carolina’s 2026 recruiting class. In June, Chapman’s brother, defensive back Keegan Chapman, also committed to UNC. Their Jackson High teammate and three-star safety Jamarrion Gordon is also in the class.

Chapman helped Jackson High win an Alabama state title as a junior last season. He caught more than 50 passes and tallied 1,322 yards and 19 touchdowns. He’ll once again play in a dynamic offense this fall, headlining a roster that also includes Alabama five-star running back commit Ezavier Crowell and uncommitted four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth.

Tar Heels add to Top-25 recruiting class

UNC has quickly loaded up its 2026 recruiting class. The Chapman brothers bring the Tar Heels up to 29 pledges to date.

Keeyun Chapman is now the fourth blue-chipper in the mix, joining Mount Olive (N.C.) North Duplin four-star defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson four-star quarterback Travis Burgess and Rolesville (N.C.) four-star EDGE Zavion Griffin-Haynes.

Ruffin flipped to UNC from Texas A&M in March and ranks as the No. 26 DL in the nation. Burgess chose the Tar Heels over Auburn last month and has since seen his stock rise ahead of his senior campaign. He’s now the nation’s No. 22 QB. Griffin-Haynes decommitted from UNC as the program transitioned from Mack Brown to Belichick, but he jumped back in the boat alongside his twin brother Jayden Griffin-Haynes on June 5.

Cleveland native and IMG Academy (Fla.) three-star interior offensive lineman Will Conroy flipped from Oklahoma on June 18. Other commitments last month included: Pittsburgh Central Catholic three-star EDGE Ashton Blatt, Monroe (La.) Neville three-star safety Julian Burns and Westlake (Ohio) St. Edward three-star IOL Mason Wilhelm and others.

Chapman is the second commitment in the first two days of this month, joining high three-star O’Mari Johnson.

The class now ranks No. 24 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The full pledge list can be viewed here.
