Irish land commitment from 4-star OL Gregory Patrick: 'Notre Dame they had everything'
Portage (Mich.) Northern On300 offensive lineman Gregory Patrick keeps Notre Dame hot on the recruiting trail, committing to the Irish.
The four-star Patrick chose to play for head coach Marcus Freeman and his coaching staff over his other finalists in Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State.
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Patrick is tabbed by On3 as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Michigan, the No. 7 interior offensive lineman and No. 95 prospect overall. He becomes commit No. 10 for Notre Dame in the 2026 cycle, a class the On3 Industry ranked No. 6 nationally.
Patrick committed to Freeman in person on Friday before going public with his decision Sunday. the Irish view him as an offensive tackle.
“I’ve had the same three priorities in recruiting,” Patrick said. “Education, culture and development. Notre Dame they had everything.
“It was really just the people there. The relationships I built and the education and they obviously develop linemen. They’re O-Line U.”
Another terrific offensive line class for Notre Dame
Notre Dame is putting together one of the premier offensive line classes in the country with Patrick joining fellow four-stars in Tyler Merrill and Ben Nichols along with Sullivan Garvin.
“They’re not a program that just recruits anybody because they’re good,” Patrick said. “It’s a little more filtered down than that. They recruit people that are very good, obviously the best in the country. They recruit people that are great in the classroom and great people in general. That was the part that did it for me. The people there.”
Freeman and the trajectory of the program also sold Patrick.
“He backs up what he talks about,” Patrick said.
“Notre Dame is a team that finished second in the country riddled with injuries last year. It’s only on the up and up from here. Championships is going to become the norm shortly.”
