Oklahoma bolsters 2027 class with blue-chip CB Mikhail McCreary

Oklahoma is on a heater.
Brent Venables and Jim Nagy are stacking talent in the Sooners’ 2027 recruiting class and have added another blue-chipper to the mix.
Rivals300 CB Mikhail McCreary committed to Oklahoma over Texas Tech and others on Monday.
The Sooners garnered traction with the four-star CB from San Antonio (Texas) Johnson High School over the summer working out for Venables and cornerbacks coach Jay Valai. His recent trip to Norman pushed him even closer to the finish line.
“Man, the timing just felt right,” McCreary told Rivals. “My family and I have been praying and talking about this for a while, and everything just lined up from the relationships with the coaching staff to how I felt on campus. It felt like home.”
“One of the things that set the Sooners apart was how genuine they’ve been from Day 1,” he continued. “The coaches have been consistent. They keep telling me how they believe in me and they showed me how I fit into their vision. It just felt like a yes right now!”
McCreary is the latest blue-chipper to jump on board with Oklahoma — following five-star OT Cooper Hackett, four-star OT Kaeden Penny and four-star ATH Demare Dezeurn — all of whom have committed within the last month.

Oklahoma has been leading the pack for McCreary since his return stop in Norman. Another visit back is in the works.
“At Oklahoma, it’s the tradition of Coach V putting out great defenses and great players,” McCreary detailed. “They’ve shown me a clear plan for my development and future. Also, Coach Venables has the defense playing lights out.”
“They brought the consistency and communication over the phone to real life … they show real love. My first Oklahoma game visit and it was definitely a great experience. They’re definitely on the top of my list,” McCreary said after his trip to campus earlier this month.
