Elite EDGE Richard Wesley commits to Oregon

Los Angeles Sierra Canyon four-star EDGE Richard Wesley has committed to Oregon.
He chose the Ducks over the likes of Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.
Wesley is the No. 48 overall prospect and No. 7 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in California. Wesley reclassified up to the 2026 cycle this spring.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder recently told On3’s Chad Simmons that no team was recruiting him like the Ducks. As a result, he’s now pledged to the Big Ten program. Wesley returned to Eugene for a spring visit at the end of April.
“They preach Dan Lanning and his background and the same with Tosh Lupoi. They let me know the Oregon track record and I have seen that,” Wesley said.
“Since the jump, Oregon has been showing me love. I talk to coaches almost every day, they text me all the time and they were begging me for the prom pictures Saturday night. I love the feeling there and I love everything there.”

After coming up on the wrong end of a couple of big recruiting battles, Oregon is back in the win column in a big way with Wesley’s commitment. The blue-chipper plays for one of the top high school football programs in the Golden State and is the latest Californian to choose the Ducks.
“Watching the spring game, I got to watch the work they are putting in. They talk about the work a lot, so it was great to see it translate onto the field. My time up there was great again,” Wesley added.
His commitment bumps Oregon up toward the top five of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He helps headline the class alongside five-star tight end Kendre Harrison, four-star running back Tradarian Ball and four-star defensive lineman Tony Cumberland, all of whom are also top-100 recruits.
