Oregon leads the country with five 5-stars in 2026 class

Despite not having a single in-state commitment and its commitments hailing from an average of nearly 1,500 miles outside of Oregon, the Ducks have assembled one of the pound-for-pound best recruiting classes in the country — again.

A year after signing the No. 4 class in the nation and making a run at the top spot, Dan Lanning has the Ducks right in the thick of things again in 2026. Oregon currently sits at No. 3 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, but is just three-tenths of a point back of No. 1 USC.

Arguably even more impressive is that the Ducks lead the country with five 5-star recruits; Notre Dame trails behind them with four, while Alabama and Texas both have three. Only one of those — Nevada safety Jett Washington — hails from west of Mississippi River. The others, the Ducks plucked out of Maryland, Alabama, North Carolina and Texas.

They also hold the highest percentage of blue-chip commitments this cycle (84%), which would be the second-highest of any class in the country the best three years. The top class in that regard? Oregon’s 2025 class, which was comprised of 17 blue-chip signees and a single three-star.

Lanning and his staff have focused heavily on quality and not quantity with only 19 commits. But of those 19, 16 rank among the top-400 nationally.

Should they finish where they currently stand, their average class ranking will have jumped from 12th in 2018-21 under Mario Cristobal to 4th (2023-2026) under Lanning’s watch. Combined with how successful they’ve been in the transfer portal, Oregon’s roster-building is one that has championship potential year-in and year-out, something they’ve not yet seen in Eugene.
