Penn State has added tight end Pierce Petersohn to its Class of 2026.

Penn State landed a commitment from Dodge Center (Minn.) Triton On3 four-star athlete Pierce Petersohn, who will play tight end in Happy Valley.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Petersohn chose the Nittany Lions over his other finalists in Minnesota.

“The campus reminds me of my hometown,” Petersohn said. “I am impressed with the coaching staff and the vision they have for me.”

On3 tabs Petersohn as the nation’s No. 8 athlete and No. 201 prospect overall. He becomes commit No. 21 for head coach James Franklin and his staff, adding to a haul previously ranked No. 12 nationally.

Ty Howle led the recruitment of Petersohn and the Nittany Lions got the last official visit the weekend of June 20.

“Just the people in the building,” Petersohn said. “All great people there.”

Petersohn said the scheme will get the best out of him.

“You have to do it all as a tight end at Penn State,” Petersohn said. “I’m very versatile player that will help me in their program.”

Petersohn shows that versatility on Friday nights. He plays quarterback and racked up close to 2,000 yards of offense and 26 touchdowns. He picked off three passes on defense. He has elite athleticism for the tight end position including a 4.54 40-yard dash time with a 6-foot-10 high jump.

Other programs to offer Petersohn included Iowa and Northwestern. Penn State had everything he was looking for.

“My family and I just think it’s a good fit,” Petersohn said.
