Rivals300 WR and Penn State commit Jahsiear Rogers reopens recruitment

Appoquinimink (Del.) four-star wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers has opted to reopen his recruitment, he announced on Monday.
Rogers has been committed to Penn State since July 2024, when he chose them over Indiana, North Carolina and a host of other programs. He told Rivals that he hasn’t decommitted from the Nittany Lions but wants to look at other schools after the program fired head coach James Franklin on Sunday.
“I would first like to thank @coachjfranklin & @coachmhagans and staff for believing in me. That being said with the recent coaching change I am reopening my recruitment. I am excited to explore new opportunities,” Rogers posted on Twitter.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder is the No. 409 overall prospect and No. 64 WR in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also ranks as Delaware’s top senior recruit.
Rivals, however, is quite a bit higher on him than ESPN and 247Sports. In the most recent Rivals300 rankings, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 195 prospect and No. 24 wide receiver.

Decommitments rolling in for the Nittany Lions
While Rogers and a handful of other commitments have reopened their recruitments with decommitting, a few others have chosen to take Penn State out of contention after the decision to fire Franklin.
In the 2026 class, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic three-star wide receiver Lavar Keys announced Sunday that he was leaving the class. Keys had also been committed to PSU for more than a year dating back to August 2024.
2027 is where they have really taken a hit, though. Five-star running back Kemon Spell, four-star offensive tackle Layton von Brandt and four-star linebacker Gabe Jenkins have all decommitted since Franklin’s firing. That leaves the Nittany Lions with zero commitments in next year’s cycle.
However, the focus for whichever coach is hired to replace Franklin will be retaining their remaining 2026 commits, adding more and hitting the transfer portal hard.
