4-star SF BJ Davis-Ray commits to SMU

BJ Davis-Ray, a four-star small forward in the 2025 class, told On3 he’s committed to SMU.

The 6-foot-5 senior out of JSerra Catholic (CA) chose the Mustangs over offers from schools like Oklahoma State, St. Louis, USC, LSU, and others.

Ray, a Saint Louis native, is the nation’s No. 112 overall prospect, No. 26 small forward and No. 12 recruit in California in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

BJ Davis-Ray discussed his decision with On3.

“I chose SMU because I had a good relationship with Coach Enfield. He recruited me hard this past spring and summer. I think it’s a great opportunity with me growing up in the area for family and friends to see me play.”

What led to his trust in coach Enfield?

“Coach Andy has an NBA background and he and his staff are familiar with helping guys get to the NBA.”

In his own words, what type of player is SMU getting in Davis-Ray?

“I’m a 2-way shooting guard that can score on all three levels and and get my team involved.”
