Texas A&M offers 2028 DB Jamal Lagway, younger brother of Florida QB
Two years ago, Texas A&M struck out in its pursuit of Five-Star Plus+ quarterback DJ Lagway, who ultimately committed to Florida and signed with the Gators.
A few cycles later, they’re hoping for a different result with his brother, Jamal Lagway. The Aggies offered the standout sophomore on Monday night, becoming the first Power 4 school to do so. New Mexico and Sacramento State are his other two offers on the table, though more could be coming after a strong sophomore campaign at Willis (Texas).
Across the five games he has stats for according to MaxPreps, Lagway has totaled 24 tackles, including one tackle for loss, along with three pass breakups. With him roaming the secondary, Willis is 7-2 on the season with the district playoffs looming in a few weeks.
Lagway is currently unranked in the 2028 class, but could see that change in the coming months as recruiting services expand their rankings for that group.

Aggies are rolling on the field, recruiting trail
Whether Lagway ends up in College Station remains to be seen over the next few years, but the Aggies are growing into a juggernaut under Mike Elko.
Sitting at 8-0 and No. 3 in the AP poll, they’re one of the odds-on favorites to make and win the College Football Playoff. That momentum has reached the recruiting trail, too. A&M holds the No. 6 class nationally in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, headlined by five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington. The Aggies also have six other top-100 commits and 21 blue-chip pledges in total — one of the highest marks in the country.
And they’re already making waves in 2027, as well. Elko and Co. have four junior commitments with elite Lowndes (Ga.) quarterback Jayce Johnson leading the way in that group. A&M’s 2027 class currently ranks No. 3 nationally and will be in contention for the top spot by the time next year’s early signing period rolls around.
