Georgetown (Texas) three-star offensive tackle Kaden Scherer took one visit to Texas and knew that’s where he wanted to play his college football.

The Lone Star State standout, who had been committed to Stanford since June, flipped his pledge to the Longhorns on Monday after being in Austin over the weekend.

“It’s the true package — life, academics, and football … that makes it such a good fit,” he told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman after his visit, “And it’s just a hard call because of the relationship (I have) with Stanford.”

The chance to play close to home, as well as be developed by one of the premier programs in college football, was simply too good to pass up. He highlighted the program’s “electric” offense, the environment around campus, and the ability to play for offensive line coach Kyle Flood as key factors in the Longhorns’ favor.

He got to spend plenty of time with the coaching staff over the weekend and saw Texas take down Arkansas 52-37. What he heard and saw made him believe it’s his future.

“The message was very positive and I like the way it’s heading,” Scherer continued. “The development excites me and the culture. The game-day environment was awesome. Definitely electric.”

Prior to his commitment to the Cardinal back in June, Scherer also considered TCU, Virginia, Kansas State and Northwestern. The hulking 6-foot-6, 275-pounder is the No. 1151 overall prospect and No. 84 OT in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

Rivals, however, is a bit higher on him than other services. In the recently updated Rivals rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 56 offensive tackle.
