An impressive month on the recruiting trail for Texas Tech continued on Tuesday as it nabbed a commitment from local four-star wide receiver Chase Campbell.

The Red Raiders beat out Baylor and Kansas State for the Wolfforth (Texas) Frenship star, who held a slew of Power Four offers. Campbell had a lowkey recruiting process and is set now set to make the short trek to Lubbock at the next level.

With the addition of Campbell, the No. 57 overall prospect and No. 8 WR in the Rivals300, Texas Tech made a nine-spot jump in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and now checks in with the nation’s No. 25 class in the 2026 cycle.

“It was a very difficult decision. Tech was the best fit for me — they showed me that I was needed; I wasn’t just wanted there,” Campbell told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman. “Being able to see the culture there, knowing I feel comfortable there … I can thrive there.”

The class now features 19 total commits, 16 of whom hail from the Lone Star State. It also now ranks No. 2 in the Big 12, leapfrogging TCU and Baylor.

5-star headlines Texas Tech’s pledge list

On the Fourth of July, TTU pulled off perhaps the biggest upset win of the recruiting cycle. Mansfield (Texas) Lake Ridge five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo did not include the Red Raiders in his final four, but still opted to dawn red and black when the time came for his decision to go public.

Texas Tech beat out Texas and Ohio State, among others, for the nation’s No. 12 overall prospect and No. 3 tackle. Reports surrounding a mammoth NIL package immediately surfaced after Ojo’s commitment.

The 6-foot-6.5, 275-pounder is the class jewel and is looking to bring other top blue-chippers to the pledge list. Two of the other top commits in the class — Frisco (Texas) Panther Creek three-star safety Donovan Webb and New Boston (Texas) Rivals300 running back Ace Rowden — also joined the fold this month.

Webb is the nation’s No. 35 safety in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Rowden checks in as the No. 20 RB in the Rivals300.

“I’m excited to see the progress and the plans they have for me on and off the field,” Rowden told Spiegelman. “I feel like that place definitely builds players as football players, but as men as well. That’s what I need and that’s what I was looking for.”

Other top commits in the class include: Georgetown (Texas) East View three-star linebacker Tieson Ejiawoko, Alcoa (Tenn.) three-star offensive tackle Jacob Crow, Pflugerville (Texas) Weiss three-star interior offensive lineman Jerald Mays, Amarillo (Texas) Tascosa three-star defensive lineman Krush Johnson and Mount Enterprise (Texas) three-star LB Kaegan Ash.
