Quinton Kitt, the No. 118 overall prospect in the 2027 class, is staying home. The East Peoria (IL) standout has committed to Illinois, giving the Illini an early in-state win on the recruiting trail.

The 6-foot-6 wing picked Brad Underwood’s program over Iowa, Butler, Michigan, Northwestern and several others. He’s a three-star prospect who put up 23 points, 8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last season as a sophomore.

Kitt is the first pledge of Illinois’ 2027 class. The Illini already have three recruits locked in for 2026: four-star point guard Lucas Morillo, three-star shooting guard Ethan Brown and three-star forward Landon Davis.

Why Illinois?

Kitt told Rivals that Illinois felt right from the moment he stepped on campus.

“I chose Illinois because ever since the first time I went there, it felt like a home to me. I just felt a part of the program and I think it’s a great fit for me. Also having my family being able to come watch is awesome.”

Despite being only a junior, he didn’t see any reason to drag out the process.

“What made me comfortable is that I just feel it’s the right spot for me and I don’t see a point to wait longer when I know where I want to go.”

In his own words, what type of player is Illinois getting in Kitt?

“I would describe my game as a big guard that is very versatile. Someone that can do anything that’s needed on a court like defend, rebound, score, or pass.”

He has a message for Illini fans.

“I’m ready to work and represent my state.”

Illinois is off to a strong 6–1 start and sits at No. 13 in the AP poll. Their only loss came to Alabama, and their top win so far came against Texas Tech. The Illini will get a major test on Friday when they take on No. 5 UConn.
