Top 2026 recruit Jordyn Jackson commits to Maryland

Top 2026 recruit Jordyn Jackson of Washington (D.C.) Sidwell Friends School has committed to Maryland, she told Rivals. The 6-1 guard will stay close to home to play for head coach Brenda Frese.
“The biggest factor is that she has a really good track record of creating pros in my position,” Jackson said. “I think she does really well, especially developing players and inputting them to make a really big impact in her offensive system. They’ve been recruiting me for a really long time. I have a really good connection with them…I kind of wanted to stay home and close to my family, so everybody can come and watch me play whenever.”
Jackson’s relationship with Frese played a significant role in her commitment.
“It’s been really, really good,” Jackson said. “From the start, she showed me a bunch of examples of players that have played with her that are similar to how I play, like Alyssa Thomas and Diamond Miller. I just felt really inspired by that, and thought that she could do really great things for me, and I could do really great things for her. I think that we kind of just hit it off from the jump. One of her former players, Diamond Miller, we used to work out together when I was in New Jersey. We know each other, so I’ve always looked up to her. I just think it’s kind of like a good full circle moment.”
Jackson also noted that she sees herself fitting in well with Maryland’s play style.
“I think they play fast in transition,” Jackson said. “You know, it’s kind of an open floor, four-out one-in five-out policy. That really goes well with my game. Some of the sets she runs will put me in good positions to score and put the ball in the basket.”

While it’s still a year away, Jackson is already excited to get on campus and experience being a Terrapin.
“The fanbase,” Jackson said of what excites her. “I’m excited for the college town. When I went to games, whenever they had home games, the gym was packed and the energy was just crazy. I can’t wait to be part of the atmosphere and that culture and just have a fanbase behind my back.”
