Ty Simpson was named Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year on the heels of a strong senior season. The Alabama commit finished the season completing 210 of 327 passes (64.2%) for 2,921 passing yards, 44 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 1,206 yards and 15 touchdowns. The strong senior season is by far the best year of Simpson's high school career. He showed a good zip on his passes along with improvisational playmaking ability.

Ty Simpson capped off his strong senior season by leading his Martin (Tenn.) Westview team to a 55-14 win over Hampton in the Tennessee 2A state title game. Simpson showed good accuracy and above-average arm strength, even if he didn’t have the "wow" moments of some others. If the Alabama commit stood out in any category, it was with his movement.
