Physicality/effort

Quality size, especially for an H-back as a 2028 prospect. Listed at an unverified 6-foot-3, 230 pounds. He'd ideally be closer to 6-foot-4 to be a true in-line tight end, but his mass is solid at this stage. He has a good-looking weight distribution throughout his frame. He likely can't add much more weight but can easily sit around 245 to 250 pounds and still move around comfortably. His length appears slightly above average, with a wingspan likely close to 77 or 78 inches.

Blocking is the strongest area of his game, and it isn't particularly close. He's a physical, tenacious blocker who fires off the ball low with good pad level and hand usage, uses his length to initiate contact and gain leverage, and finishes as he consistently looks to drive defenders into the dirt. He doesn't have a ton of shock in his hands yet, but the leg drive is excellent, and it's what moves defenders off the ball. He could also develop more pop in his initial strike, which should come with added mass and time in the weight room. He's a hard-nosed player whose effort shows when he's engaged and with the ball in his hands, and that physicality should only improve as he gets stronger.

That same physicality carries over as a runner. He's strong with the ball in his hands, with good leg drive and the ability to bounce off weak tackle attempts, though he lacks elusiveness in space. As a receiver, he's a reliable safety blanket underneath and in the intermediate areas. He has strong hands and catches the football away from his frame rather than letting it into his body. It's unclear how natural a ball tracker he is outside of underneath route concepts, as he rarely goes up and attacks the football on film. That doesn't mean he can't; it just hasn't shown up yet, and he needs to show more in this area. He lines up as an H, as an in-line Y, and split out in the slot, so he brings positional versatility and experience.

The developmental list is almost entirely athletic-based. He fires off the ball well as a blocker but lacks that same explosiveness in his movements as a receiver. He doesn't have ideal foot speed navigating space, both as a receiver and as a blocker working in the open field, and he must show more urgency and suddenness to be effective in space. He doesn't stride out and eat yardage when running at full speed, and he needs to improve in this area to increase his role in the passing game. He also needs more wiggle and change of direction to be an effective route runner at the next level, and his route tree is limited by a lack of top-end speed.

He projects to the FCS level at this stage. The size, physicality, and blocking ability make him an immediate role player there. The biggest question he has to answer, and the one that sets his ceiling, is how much more athletic he can get. Right now he lacks the twitch, wiggle, and top-end speed to be more than an underneath option in the passing game, even though the strong hands and ability to secure the ball away from his frame are real. If he gets more explosive and fluid, the role expands. If he doesn't, the only path to an expanded role beyond blocking tight end may be at the Div. II level. But his frame should allow him to get stronger and more explosive if he continues to put in the work.
