2027 LB Cooper Witten Talks Visit Plans, A&M Interest

One of the top defensive prospects in the 2027 class, linebacker Cooper Witten, has been hearing from schools across the country—and Texas A&M is firmly in the mix. Witten told AggieYell that a handful of programs are separating themselves early in his recruitment.
“Right now, the main ones are Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Clemson, and Tennessee,” Witten said.
The Aggies have made an impression early, and Witten says he plans to get back to College Station multiple times this fall.
“I want to go out to A&M a few times this season. I like what they’re building over there,” he added.
Aggie co-defensive coordinator Jay Bateman has been leading the charge in Witten’s recruitment and is one of the key reasons A&M is in a strong position.
“Coach Bateman is the guy recruiting me the hardest from A&M,” Witten said. “We’ve built a strong relationship.”
Witten continues to evaluate his options and could be one of the more watched linebacker prospects in the 2027 cycle. Expect A&M to stay heavily involved as the fall visit schedule takes shape.
